WWR Debuts New Vulcan Indirect Thermal Desorption Unit in Front of 90,000 Visitors at 2013 OTC Event

WWR was proud to exhibit at the 2013 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston earlier this month. The convention had 90,000 attendees, and WWR representatives personally met with many of them, as thousands of visitors stopped by our booth during the four day event.

One notable group of visitors at our OTC booth was members of the Nigerian Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). We were happy to have them stop by and have worked with them on several past and upcoming projects. One lucky visitor even received a free iPad that was given away to a random visitor from the list of visitors who swiped their card at our booth. She informed us that she received the device and she and her kids love using it!

As a global leader in the soil and environmental remediation and thermal desorption industry, specializing in drilling muds and drill cuttings, WWR showcased our new Vulcan Indirect Thermal Desorption Unit, consisting of a 40’ x 7’ CORETEN drum with combustion chamber and burners as the primary thermal desorption unit and equipped with a material feed system, material discharge system and vapor recovery system.

Our indirect fired rotary kilns, electrically heated units and hot oil processors have been used to remove the hydrocarbons from drill cuttings and for drilling muds recovery at multiple sites worldwide. WWR Installs New Overhead Crane in Manufacturing Shop

Worldwide Recycling Equipment Sales, LLC recently replaced the overhead crane in our manufacturing shop. Design and installation was done by Material Handling Systems, Inc. of St. Louis at a total cost of nearly $20,000. We are proud to have been able to make this improvement, as the old crane was in need of replacement, and we hope that this will increase productivity and effectiveness of the equipment restoration projects in the shop.

The past few months have been significant for Worldwide Recycling Equipment Sales, LLC. (WWR) in terms of branding and exposure. While re-thinking our marketing campaign for 2013, we decided to step out of the norm and try some new techniques compared to what we have done in the past. As we continue to move toward individualizing our Tuffman line of sorting equipment and Vulcan line of remediation and desorption equipment into separate divisions of WWR, we were given the opportunity to debut these lines as individual entities on national TV.

On January 9^th, 2013, the Tuffman line of stationary and portable sorting stations, trommel screens, bag-breakers, heavy-duty conveyors and crossbelt magnets was featured on FOX Business Network’s Manufacturing Marvels. This two-minute production showcases companies that manufacture exclusively in the United States. Produced by award-winning producers Bob and Jerry May of Marvel Production Group, LLC. and narrated by acclaimed former FOX and ABC anchor John Criswell, the production highlights WWR’s commitment to customer service through the completely customizable line of Tuffman products and showcases our role as a global leader in the recycling and environmental equipment industry.

The video clip gives viewers an inside look at WWR’s manufacturing facilities in Moberly, MO and provides behind-the-scenes information about our products and the process of manufacturing these state of the art sorting systems.

On February 28^th, 2013, our Vulcan line debuted on its own episode of Manufacturing Marvels. Vulcan dryers have been used in various industries including food, pharmaceutical, automobile shredded residue, plastics and bio solids, both nationally and around the world, with clientele reaching as far as Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Cyprus, Romania, Nigeria and the Middle East. The dryers provide customers with complete drying and remediation solutions to suit their specific needs. The three main uses for this equipment are downstream processing to create useful commodities, drying material to save on disposal, storage and shipping costs, as well as soil remediation and cleanup from contaminates such as oil, mercury or pesticides.

Company Expansion- Reconditioning Facilities and Office Building

Since our last update, the office expansion has been fully completed and all employees have moved into their new spaces. Once the outer facade was finished, the inside same together pretty quickly. Windows that previously overlooked the back lot now looked into the new space, so they were knocked out and covered with drywall. An entryway was cut connecting the existing building to the new space. The lighting and lighting fixtures were installed, followed by the walls being painted and finally the carpet being laid. This 60′ x 30′ addition to the building became the sales area, with desks for all our our sales team, individual offices for our engineer, senior marketing specialist and company president, plus room for growth. The area also has a large conference room equipped with new computer, HD television monitor and state of the art conference call phone system with speakers.

Once the structural work was finished, the office furniture was delivered and put together, including desks, filing drawers and bookcases for each member of the sales team; desks, shelves and filing systems for each of the three private offices in the space; small meeting tables; chairs and a large meeting table for the new conference room. Once the final decorative touches such as blinds, plants and pictures for the wall were put in, the new space was up and running. The entire sales staff was fully moved and settled into their new area by the end of May.

With the Sales Department moving to the back area of the building, the IT Department moved from a small office to the large space previously used by Sales. In the transition period between Sales leaving the area and IT moving in, the walls were painted, light fixtures were cleaned and replaced and the carpet was cleaned. New desks, bookcases, chairs and filing drawers were delivered and assembled for each member of the IT department, as well as two new shelving units used to store cameras and camera equipment, video recorders and computer equipment. This left space in the former IT office for the Purchasing Department to move into, which allowed the wall between the former Purchasing Department Office and the Accounting Office to be torn down, creating one large Accounting Department Office. Our head of HR was also moved into a larger office that was previously occupied by the senior marketing specialist.

With almost the entire office staff either moving into a new space or gaining more space in their area when others moved out, this gave everyone a lot more space to work in. These changes allowed everyone to tailor their workspace to their specific needs, such as getting larger desks, additional computer monitors and new filing or organizational systems where needed, increasing employee productivity and efficiency. With everything and everyone fully settled for the past month and a half, things have been running smoothly and everyone has been happy with the change. The large expansion also left spaces for future employees as the company continues to grow and prosper.

The primary use of a rotary dryer is to reduce the moisture content in a variety of materials. They are excellent for drying sawdust, wood shavings, hay, livestock renderings, by-products used for animal feed, paper, municipal solid waste, salt and sludge. Rotary dryers are a key piece of equipment in soil remediation. The rotating drum heats the soil to a temperature high enough to vaporize the contaminants, but not so high that the soil is incinerated.

With the quick and efficient drying process they provide, rotary dryers are used for a variety of applications beyond soil remediation. They are used in the food processing industry to dry grains, citrus and potato by-products, spices and nuts; in the metal and mining industries to dry a variety of metal concentrates and minerals such as aluminum, coal, limestone and fluorescent lamp powder; and in the ceramic and chemical industries to dry silica and beach sand, ceramic powders and synthetic resins.

As the dryer rotates, the material is lifted by a series of fins called flights that line the inner walls of the drum. As the material rolls back down off the flights, it passes through a stream of hot gas and falls to the bottom of the dryer. This process continues until the material is thoroughly dried. Dryers are offered in both direct and indirect heated models. When a burner is used, making up the gas stream of both air and combustion gases, it is considered direct heat. When the gas stream is heated through a different mean and no combustion gases enter the dryer, it is an indirect heated model. Indirect heated models are useful when product contamination is a concern.

Some units include a cyclone that acts as an air pollution control device, collecting and filtering the material and carrying it to the dryer’s discharge system. In this case, the material is passed from the drum into the cyclone before it is discharged. Use of a cyclone with a dryer is common when a dryer is being used for soil remediation jobs because it separates the soil from the toxins that were vaporized during the drying process. This way, the newly-cleaned soil is released, but the toxic vapors are captured and passed into an oxidizer that breaks them down and restores them to CO2 and H2O so they can be admitted into the atmosphere, pollutant-free.

Over the past few months, the Worldwide Recycling Equipment Sales, LLC IT Department has been working hard on making improvements and enhancements to our website to make it as user friendly and easy to navigate as possible. Here is a walkthrough on some of the changes that you’ll see on our website and how they were designed to better suit your needs.

Language Translation Options – One of the most significant changes that has been made recently is that we added a language translation option to all of our pages. With the word “Worldwide” in our name, it would make sense that we pride ourselves on our worldwide sales and distribution. With a customer base ranging from Chile to Germany to Nigeria as well as all across the United States and recent visitors from Korea, Brazil, Bolivia and Romania to our headquarters in Moberly, Missouri, we work with people with a variety of ethnicities and native tounges. In order to better serve our international customers, we have added a google translate toolbar to every page on our website. This allows viewers to translate any of our equipment listings by simply clicking on the “Select Language” dropdown menu and choosing one of the more than 60 languages offered.
Social Media Links – Because we post a variety on information on all of our different social media accounts (facebook, twitter, youtube, google+, the blog and LinkedIn), and we sometimes post different content on different networks, we made it easy for our visitors to find and add us on any of our accounts. This allows our customers and potential customers to connect with us in the way that is most convenient to them. This provides our viewers with more content than just the basic equipment specifications and details that are provided on the listing pages, as well as giving us an opportunity to connect with them on a different level and develop relationships. Tuffman Division Products – As our Tuffman product line grows and expands, we have begun to see it as a separate entity of Worldwide Recycling Equipment Sales, LLC and have tailored our website to reflect this change. We are constantly manufacturing and adding new Tuffman products to our website, as well as including listings for entire systems that we have sold to show how the different products work together as a whole. All of our Tuffman listings can readily be found at the top of every category’s page, above the alphabetical listings of the refurbished equipment. This helps this product line to stand out and be easy to find, rather than being mixed in with all the standard listings. We have also added the Tuffman logo to the homepage, highlighting the line as a division of WWR and are currently creating a Tuffman website of its own, so stay tuned for that.
Industry Membership Logos – In order to give our potential customers and other viewers of our website the opportunity to look into our credentials, we have provided icons of a variety of organizations that we are affiliated with, including Construction Materials Recycling Association (CMRA), National Demolition Association, Tire Industry Association (TIA), Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) and Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). This gives anyone who views our website a chance to get to know us right off the bat by understanding what associations we align ourselves with, providing insight into our mission and what we stand for.
